If you’re looking for a trusted advisor to your mental health who will:
-
I am here to listen first and foremost. I want to learn your story, how your experiences have shaped you, and how your current symptoms are impacting your life.
-
Trust and acceptance. I am here to be your advocate and guide. I am here to help you practice communicating and expressing yourself in ways more aligned with your best self.
-
You are ultimately your best expert — our greatest work will likely include helping you to discover this. Symptoms are the warning signs; symptoms serve a purpose. I will work with you to discover the core of the matter, whether it be rooted in physical or emotional pain, lifestyle choices, or other patterns of functioning that are keeping you stuck. You may find that, regardless of origin, your story and the way in which you tell it can make all the difference.
-
I am committed to going beyond simply accepting you as you are. If you are seeking genuine transformation and growth, I will compassionately and directly assist you in critically examining the barriers that are hindering your progress. My aim is to support you in making genuine changes so that you can move forward in a positive direction.
Service Offerings
Medication Management
Integrative psychiatry does not mean rejecting medication or evidence-based practice. I am here to help you find the optimal medication regimen that enhances your well-being while minimizing any unwanted side effects. Moreover, I can provide additional support through holistic approaches to gradually reduce your dependence on medication as well.
Psychotherapy
I utilize a range of therapeutic approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused therapy (EFT), Interpersonal Therapy, Solution- Focused Therapy, Spiritual Psychotherapy, and Existential Therapy. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Psychiatric care is often distanced from therapy. I aim to bring the two together to work symbiotically. Although I offer both medication management and therapy, I offer therapy exclusively to clients on a more limited basis. Often those individuals that have seen me for medication management exclusively at the start of care move into this modality with me over time. If you are already working with a therapist — great! I am dedicated to coordinating care with your therapist as well, as needed. Because I have a strong belief in the importance and power of deeper therapeutic work, I prefer offering psychiatric care to those who are also engaged with therapy. The majority of my clients receive medication management and the other services listed here from me while also working with a local therapist. For some, simple medication management is effective and, in my experience, therapy is an invaluable tool for getting to the root of our emotional pain, relational challenges, and for achieving wellness.
Functional Nutritional Testing
One drawback of traditional lab testing is that even if your nutrient levels fall within the "normal" range, it doesn't necessarily guarantee that you are fulfilling all of your specific nutritional requirements. Food is medicine. Our gut and nutritional health is critical in creating mental wellness. With the overwhelming amount of information available regarding what defines a healthy diet, barriers to obtaining high-quality, nutrient-dense foods and our own challenges with establishing supportive eating habits it can be quite difficult to obtain the building blocks needed for health. For most clients, I offer this service at the start of treatment to discover root causes of mental symptoms. Medication is most effective when vitamins and nutrients are at optimal levels.
Genetic Testing
Genetic testing can inform the prescribing of psychotropic medication by examining an individual's genetic predisposition for mental health conditions and predicting their response to specific medications. This personalized approach maximizes the benefits of treatment, leading to improved mental health outcomes. I most often use this tool with clients who are interested in medication support but have had difficulty finding a medication that works for them.
Mind-Body Medicine
I can show you how to use meditation and mindfulness to balance your mood and navigate the natural ebb and flow of emotions that come with being human. I believe meditation is one of the most curative, long-term practices that we have available to us. I also understand how difficult it can be to find your own rhythm with this tool (Hello ADHD!) There are many ways to start and maintain a mindful or meditative practice. I’m here to help you discover how this tool can work for you.
Integration of Psychedelic Experiences
Psychedelic integration therapy is a supportive form of therapy that helps individuals integrate and understand their experiences with psychedelic substances. It involves working with a therapist to process insights, emotions, and sensations, leading to personal growth, healing, and enhanced well-being. Currently in Florida, only ketamine is legally available for this purpose. I am trained to treat certain psychiatric conditions with ketamine as well as prepared for the anticipated approvals of MDMA and Psilocybin in the near future.
*Please note, I am not currently offering prescription of psychedelic medications and am only offering integration (therapy) services at this time. Working with me does not guarantee treatment with ketamine nor any other psychedelic substance and I do not promote the illegal use of any substance.
